I love my hometown

I just had the following conversation.

(cell phone rings, I pick it up)

Caller: Hi, I'm Tom and I'm with the Barack Obama campaign. I was calling to see if you'd like to join us for a house party on Thursday night.

CC: Oh, sorry. I've got Skins tickets for Thursday.

Caller: Really? AWESOME!

Whatever you do, don't tell Rev. Clyde Grubbs that you happily attend Washington Redskins games CC. I have reasonable grounds to believe that he would not consider it to be "AWESOME". Au contraire, he and other like-minded U*Us would expect you to be marching around FedEx Field with Native American activists and representatives from the United Church of Christ to protest the Washington Redskins baseball team's use of "symbols, names, and mascots which Native American people find offensive." Unless of course that particular form of PC posturing and grandstanding has is no longer fashionable in the U*U World since it was affirmed and promoted in 2001. . . ;-)

If it were up to me, I would change the name, particularly since "Redskins" has nothing to do with Washington DC per se.

But it's not.

And I'm sure some UUs would disagree with my decision to go. I'm sure I disagree with them on some things too.
